Project Life-Week 8

Here is my take on Project Life for week 8.  I do apologise for the quality of photo's but I just wanted to get this post in before we head off on Holidays tomorrow and I was a bit rushed.  Then blogger gave me a few hassles on getting them up.

Kept it all very basic this week, just photo's and words with a teeny tiny bit of scrapping.

I do some inserts to go in but I will do those when I get back.

Just wanted to share a quick layout that I did last night.  You might remember the photo's from my birthday breakfast a few weeks back when I went "topless".  I was having so much fun with the page that I didn't leave any room for journalling but lucky for me I didn't stick down the middle of a photo so I used it as a pocket and slipped in a tag with my journalling on it.

I have got a real thing for confetti lately... its cute don't you think.

I also wanted to share these fun digital frames that I got from here.  They are 4 x 6 and a just so cute.  I just had to practice on the photo of my favourite shoes.

Still squealing...

My door bell rang at 7.30 this morning...

that could only mean one thing...

it was my favourite delivery man...

the one who only brings me super cool stuff...

Yes I know I have a date stamp, several in fact but they are not this one and its very important that I had this one.  Why this one, cause its just way to super cute.

And of course I couldn't order just this so I got myself some other Dear Lizzy yummy-ness as well.

Seriously you couldn't just order this and have it posted by itself, really what were you thinking.

I just had to mention (again) about my super cute new shoes (insert squeals of delight).  Seriously I can't stop looking at them, did I mention they were cute... LOL.

Project Life - week 7

Hello and welcome to Week 7.

Its still really busy around here so I kept it pretty simple, mostly just photo's and journalling.

 I so had to include this quote from my son about Valentines Day ... it went like this -

Josh:  Oh no it's Valentines Day, I hate Valentines Day

Mum:  Why do you hate Valentines Day

Josh: cause it's filled with all that romance stuff.

Here is a look at the double page.  Just a small insert - Valentines cards from my Husband and I to each other.  My hubby is not really into Valentines Day, he does it just to keep me happy.  I used an 8" x 8" page protector, cut it down to size and stitched it up to form the page protector.

 Mostly photo's and journalling. I used one of Cathy Zielske's digital templates again, love those.

Kept this week very simple but still love how it includes so many stories that otherwise wouldn't have been recorded.  Also used a fab little app on my trusty iphone called "labelbox", it allows you to add different labels to your photo's (see photo bottom right).  Its a great way to add a title or a little bit of journalling if you don't have room.  Still using photo collages, love these because I can add a lot of photo's in a small space.

So far PL is going great and I am loving every bit of it.  Giving a lot of thought at the moment as to how I am going to record our upcoming holiday to Queensland.  I have lots of ideas to think about so we will see how we go.  Right now my thought is to include our holiday in PL album.  I like how its all together but it will really come down to home many photo's I take. 

If you have any ideas about holiday memory keeping I would love to hear about them.

finally done...

I can finally say that I am up to date on my quilt... well one of my quilts anyway.

I have been stitching away madly over the past two weeks desperately trying to get up to date as I was way, way behind.  This is my very first quilt (A Family Gathering by Anni Downs) that I am attempting and now that all my blocks are stitched all I have left to do is sew on the boarders, fabric strips and some more boarders and then its time to quilt.

Ooooooooo I am getting so excited now, my first quilt is coming together and I can see a finished quilt (in my head anyway).

and last by not least... Family Holiday - February.

I am putting needle and thread down now, fingers need serious resting and I can go without those nasty needle pricks for awhile.

bad blogger...

I am a bad blogger, yes I will admit it, a very bad blogger.  I have neglected this little blog of mine and I haven't been visiting much either.  Yes I really am a bad blogger...

But to my defence I have been doing stuff.

Stuff like driving my kids from one thing to another,

trying to keep on top of my ironing pile,

attending meetings (hate those things),

working on my next class pieces (sneeky peek below)

washing, washing and more washing... seriously where does this stuff come from.,
working... I have to pay for my craft addictions somehow,
nanna naps... well at least I am behing honest here,
housework... okay thats a lie, but I have been thinking about it,
still playing with my iphone, yep still,

and... I am on a stitching binge (is that a thing, can I call it that).  We go on holidays in just over a week and I am desperately trying to finish my stitching blocks on my first quilt.  I am on my last one now and I can here the crowd cheering, yes I can smell the finish line and yes the excitemeht is building.
Okay I still have a way to go even after my stitching blocks are done but the end is in sight, my very first quilt. Ooooooo can you feel it (if you can't just pretend for me).
Anyway can't stop and chat must get back to it, must keep going....

Project Life... week 6

Project Life week 6 - can I just say that I can't believe that we are almost at the end of week 7, what has happened to the year.

Here are my PL for week 6.  As you already know things are totally crazy busy at the moment so I had to do something that was quick but still included all the things that I like to include

Here is a brief look at the pages together.  I have an empty spot... when I got all my photo's home from the developer I realised that I forgot to print one of the photo's off... no orries I will just get it printed next week.

I kept this week very simple, so simple that it only took me about 1hr in total to choose my photo's and then put them all together in photoshop.  Most of this week is digital and I must say made it very easy to do.
I got some digital templates from Cathy Zielske which I highly recommend.  I got these and these.

This page is completely digital except for the pocket holding movie tickets.

This is one of the templates that I used... I took screen shots from my Iphone of details from my walk, the app I use is iMapMyWalk and it gives you heaps of details like a map of where you walked, distance, time start and finish etc. and then put it all together with a photo of Lucy & My shadow while out walking.

This is another example of the templates, these are the 3 x 4 and they are a great way to add heaps of photo's and still add journalling.

As I said earlier this way of documenting week 6 was easy, very easy and I will definately be doing this again when things are just way too busy.

Even if you are not really into digital scrapbooking these little templates are a breeze to use and are perfect for the PL page protectors.

There were two inserts this week, my 12 on the 12 layout that I posted about a few days ago and this one which was the instagram collage that I did a few posts back.  Turned it into a layout.

Used my stamps from Ali Edwards which made the title and embellishing very easy.

I turned the collage piece into a pocket and then added the journalling about our day.  Again this was a super quick and easy way to document a whole day.  Love it.

Make A Wish...

12 on the 12th...

Hello, how are you all. 

Yes I have been missing again... Sorry I haven't been around much but I am taking some time out to stop and breath.  One of my things this year is to have "balance" (OLW) and right now finding time to stop and breath has been a little difficult so I have cut out a few things just to give me a little space and blogging was one of those things.

I will be totally honest, I do miss my blogging and seeing what wonderful things everyone has been up to but I have been spending way too much time blogging and not enough time doing some other things.  Boo Hoo!

I am still crafting away (not as much as usual but thats okay) and keeping up with my PL which makes me happy.

One thing I am trying to do is to find some easier ways to record our story without skipping out on the details.  I do find "digital" to be a helpful tool to get my photo's and words together when I don't have much time to do a more "scrappier" version.

I have read alot about taking 12 photo's on the 12th of each month and thought I would challenge myself but still keeping it simple.  I got a digital template from Cathy Zielske, took my photo's and added some words and this is what I came up with.

So love how it turned out and the best part is I have recorded a whole day.  An ordinary day but a day that I would otherwise have not recorded.  I love all its simple-ness and how it focuses on nothing in particular but on everything at the same time.

For those of you who have not ventured into the world of digital I urge you to have a go.  I have only done a basic course through Jessica Spague (which I totally recommend) and so far thats all I have needed.  I do intend to learn more but right now this is enough.
I will get this printed on Tuesday and just slip it into my PL album.  Gottal love that.

A Day in the Life...

Decided to do Ali Edwards' challenge to document a day, 8 February 2011. 

As if I am not busy enough... but I wanted to have a go a using my iphone for an entire day as a camera (we are going away on holidays in a few weeks).  All I can say is that I totally love it.  Its simple, easy and in most cases I could get photo's without making a big deal about it.

I also saw this tutorial which helped me decide to have a go at the challenge.  Decided  I would use my iphone, use "instagram" to edit my photo's and then upload them to Picasa to make a collage. 

Man, way too simple = heaps of fun.

I intend to print this out and add to Project Life.  I will also add some form of journalling about the day.

I love that I have a whole day documented in photo's, something I have never done before - well not to this depth anyway.  Let me know if you try it.

Suck it up and get on with it...

Is anyone else feeling it... or is it just me.

Now that school is back and routine is trying desperately to take over my life I am finding myself slowing sinking under my "to do lists".

I always new that this was going to be a busy year, and I really did try to brace myself for it,but somehow I am very much dis-organised and can't see it getting better anytime soon.

I keep reminding myself about my OLW - Balance - and trying to only do the things that are important.

Unfortunately I have lots of things that are important and all need doing at the same time.

Does anyone else feel it, please tell me its not just me.

I know its just the beginning and things will get better (or is it just that we get used to it LOL) so for now I have to just take the advise I give my kids... "suck it up and get on with it."

Okay with that little blah blah blah out of the way, did you love my little photo of some birthday flowers that I got from my wonderful boss yesterday.

I took the photo's on my iphone (still loving it by the way) and then used an app called Pic-Frame to make a little collage.  You can even add labels, which is by far my favourite thing about it.

Actually note to self - if I stopped playing with my iphone so much I just might get some things done.

Must give that some thought LOL.

Going topless...

Yesterday I want out to breakfast topless,

(for my birthday - which is today)

I know what you are all thinking... I was thinking it too,

its a bit daring, people would stare but the freedom!!!

I just had to do it,

throw caution to the wind,

let my hair down, be free...

Yes I went to breakfast topless...

my friend picked me up and off we went...

in her SAAB convertable.

OMG this was so much fun.

Driving down the road, wind in my hair and a huge smile on my face.

We had a yummy breakfast at the Rose & Crown in Guildford

Mmmmmmmmmm Eggs Benedict - seriously delicious

of course I had to have a coffee!

What a wonderful morning we had chatting, eating, drinking and then chatting some more.

Note to self... must do this more often.

My birthday is today and although I have a nagging hangover and I had to spend 2hours at netball trials I have had a wonderful day.

Wonderful because I was with my family, enjoying their company and so thankful that I have them to share this wonderful day with.

Valentines...

Its my day off today, I am all by myself as the kids are all off at school.  I love it when the house is quiet, it reminds me that peace is possible LOL.

Unscripted Sketches new sketch #143 is up and as it is all nice and quiet and I have the day to myself I thought I would play along. (actually I have this list with all the things I am going to do today and would you believe that cardmaking isn't on it at all... )

So here is my take on this weeks sketch.

... A Valentines card (I know I am just as shocked as you are).  I have used Basic Grey's "Kissing Booth" line. 
This has been my favourite sketch so far and as soon as I saw it I let out a squeel. 
Well it screamed banners ... and we all know how much I like banners.

It is much cooler here today (such a delight) which makes it the perfect weather for housework... its also perfect weather for crafting too.  Actually if I add that to my to do list at least I will get one thing done today LOL.

Documenting ... I'm going to be famous!

sometimes I take photo's because I just like taking photo's.  At the time I take the photo I don't have any plans in my head as to what I am going to do with that photo.

And since getting my iphone I find I am taking more photo's than ever and more photo's than I need to my PL album.

The other day my Son was mucking around, being silly... well being his usuall self really.  He had pink feathers on, his pretend army ear piece and micropone on, a lei on and a pair of jocks on his head.  He was singing and dancing and just being plain silly.

He asked me to take photo's (which is a little unusual)... so I did, not really thinking any more about it.

 

When I got the photo's developed I couldn't stop looking at them, not because they were great photo's but because they made me stop, stop and think about what he was doing, why he was doing what he was doing.  Then I started thinking about the funny things he says and does.

Then I remembered a conversation we had on that day about what he wanted to be when he grows up.
You see Josh is going to be famous, yep he is going to live in Hollywood, have a mansion and be a movie star.

It was at that point I knew exactly what I was going to do with the photo's...

Sometimes the photo doesn't have to match the story exactly.  Have another look at your photo's and you may just have a whole pile of stories just waiting to be told.

This is what I love about scrapbooking, memory keeping or what ever you want to call it... its these little stories that a just way too priceless to lose.
