Twiddleybitz DT & LO's

Yes I am still here although still feeling very poorly. Actually my Son & I are still sick with the flu and trying very hard to get over it as we go away on Saturday to Busselton for a week. We are armed with medicine and ready to recovery. I haven't done much in the way of scrapping but wanted to share some layouts that I did a few weeks ago for Tomorrow's Memories.
I was a bit freaked out when they asked me to do a layout with the Star Wars paper from Creative Imaginations. Although the paper is super cool I don't usual scrap well with themed papers as such. But once I realised that the advantage with these particular papers is that the paper is so cool you don't need much embellishing. My problem though, was that I didn't have any silver paint and no silver lettering. Every other colour mind you but no silver. After much stressing it cam to me.

I just glued alfoil to chipboard, let it dry and then cut the letters out using my cuttlebug. It was so easy is was criminal. And it gives quite a cool finish to each letter.
A few years ago I did a layout similar to this one about my daughter and what she has for lunch at school and the lunch orders she was aloud once a week. So I thought it about time I did the same for my son.

I used the lunch order bag to put my journalling into. A simple layout but an important story that I am sure will may them laugh in years to come.
On another note... I am so pleased to let you know that I have again be selected to join the Twiddleybitz DT. I have enjoyed being on the DT and was thrilled when my application to rejoin was accepted. There are several new girls to join the DT so check out the Twiddleybitz DT blog for links to their blogs. I will update my side bar next week so you will be able to go direct from my blog.
Thats it for me for the next week or so. Please enjoy the school holidays and take time to relax and take a breather. Yipeeeeeee! we are on holidays.
See you in a week... or so.

I got so much more...

Still feeling full of the cold but somehow felt the urge to bake. Yes weird I know for me but that is how I am feeling so I thought I would bake a cake to have for afternoon tea, tomorrow afternoon, after my daughters Confirmation. I hadn't made this type of cake before, I didn't even have the correct fluted ring pan but decided to go ahead and try anyway. I was so please how is turned out but I had another surprise in store me...
When I had finished my cake I realised that I didn't have a container big enough to put it in (I don't bake often... well at all really so not having the right container should have come as no surprise) so started hunting around the house. I came across this cake tin that I knew belonged to my mother. It was dusty so I gave it a good clean and lined the bottom with paper. Just at that moment my Mum rang (don't you just love it when things like that happen) so I asked her how old it was.

My Mum then went on to explain the story behind the cake tin. Her and Dad used to go to watch the bike riding in Midland every Friday night, and every Friday night they had a raffle and my Dad would always buy a ticket, and this cake tin was on of the prizes that my Dad won. Mum said it would have been either 1957 or 1958. I felt so amazing to be using something that belonged to my Mother and so thankful that I got to hear the wonderful story that went with it.
Who would have guessed that baking could be such a wonderful experience?
I love stories about my family and my past and this is just another one of those wonderful stories. If you have a moment why don't you ring someone close, your Mum, Dad or maybe a Grandparent and just have a good old fashion chat about... life, past, present or future.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Pink Paislee... Scary but Yummy!

The new Pink Paislee has arrived at Tomorrow's Memories and after much begging they let me have some of the new papers as part of my DT pack. I did two layouts using the range which is Halloween based although both of my layouts are not related to Halloween at all. The papers are excellent for boy pages and for those "book week" dress ups that most of us have had lately. I usually buy Halloween themed papers every year not because we really celebrate it here but because its the only time you can get scary type papers. The range also comes with stickers which, of course, I had to buy all three colours (well you never know what colour you might need) cause the choice was just too difficult. I also used the "clear stickers borderlines" stickers which are oh so cool. I even got some of the patches, although haven't used them yet I intend too. Anyway hope these pages help inspire you.
The layout following uses some Pink Paislee but also a paper from Creative Imaginations which is another very cool halloween range. You should check out the pumpkin.

"Slice" it...

Finally surfaced after being sick all week. Yep had the whole week off work and as nice as it was to just stay at home (after such a busy few months) its not the same when you are sick. On the up side though I did some scrappin! I know should have been tucked up in bed but thats no fun and while being crafty it actually took my mind of being sick. See, scrappin is good for you LOL.
Decided to get my slice out and make a layout and some cards. I followed a sketch that I took from Elizabeth Kartchner for the layout and card and the other card just made up with the scraps. Love the flowers and just so easy to do.

Again I used my slice for the flowers, the flourish and word hello.

And my layout uses the same flowers and I have even cut some flowers out of the base paper on the layout. I used the "spring" and "basic 3" cartridges.

Sorry but I just love how my camera takes good closeups. You can never have too many close-ups, right?
Hope everyone is doing okay and enjoying their week. I will have some more layouts tomorrow that I would like to share with you.
Thanks for stopping by.
Love me :-)

I baked today!

I have been planning all week to make anzac biscuits on the weekend, made sure I had all the ingredients and was looking forward to it. Strange I know seeing as cooking and myself don't usually go together but one of my goals for this year was to change my view on cooking. I am not a very confident cook so usually I shy away from it any chance I get. So you can imagine how annoyed I felt when I woke up this morning with the signs of a cold. My family has had it all week (Josh for several weeks) and I guess my luck had run out. But I had so much to do! Well I moved ahead with my day, started the washing, went to the shop to kit up some classes, came home finished the washing and made my biscuits. I so was not in the mood but I was determined to have a go.
I was so thrilled when they came out looking like... well, biscuits. I was so excited I wanted to share some with a friend who is always trying to get me to have a go at cooking. She even typed me up a little cookbook, so thanks Rosemary these are for you.

I made her up a little packet of biscuits. Yep I was so excited I got my slice out and decorated this little sleeve to wrap them up in. The tag is from the slice as well. When I was finished I realised I had a cold, but it was so nice to get a little sidetracked by cooking. Who would have guessed?
Hope you had a great weekend
love me :-)
PS we did go to our campfire last night. Very cold but the kids loved it.

tis the season

Ok maybe its not quite christmas but the christmas stock in starting to head our way. The lovely ladies at Tomorrow's Memories gave me a couple of sheets of paper from the new christmas range from Bo Bunny and asked me to complete a couple of quick cards. Cards that didn't take too much time and easy to do. The paper certainly made it easy. All I really did is add some bling now you can't get much easier than that now can you.
I don't know about you but I am not quite ready to get my head around christmas yet. My head is still back at Easter.

For those of you who are ready for christmas, I hope this quick cards have helped in some way.

Hope you all have a great weekend.
We have another Joeys event tonight, a campfire on the esplanade in Perth LOL. Wouldn't say its the best weather... you do what you have to do.

Marianne Johnson fabic

Check our Donna Downeys blog for your chance to win a bundle of fabric from Marianne Johnson of Pickled Pear Lane. Her new line is called "Messanine" and its yummy. I have put my entry in, you should too. Good luck

The photo's not so perfect...

When I picked up these photo's I was a little disappointed because they weren't as good as I was hoping. But after looking at them for awhile I realised that they may not be perfect as is colour, pose etc but they were perfect photo's of Josh being Josh. They showed a side of his personality that perfectly highlighted how engrossed he gets when he is eating a hash brown. He completely blocks everything else out to sit and eat in peace.
So when I went to Tomorrow's Memories and saw the new Fancy Pants paper I so desperately wanted to do a layout about my little boys love affair with hash browns. And not just any hash browns, they have to be from McDonalds.

Josh has a birthday party to go to on Saturday so with the left over paper I made some cards. The paper is just perfect for boy cards and the cool paper makes for quick and easy cards.

I still have some left over paper so I am hoping to make some more cards. It helped me use up some letter stickers as well.
Hope you are all well.
Love me :-)

Giveaway at Donna's

Hi
just wanted to let everyone know that Donna Downey is having a fab giveaway on her blog. She is giving away a 12 x 12 word art canvas from Red Letter Words. These canvas art pieces are beautiful and truly inspiring. Good luck :-)

Caravan of Courage

Some of you may remember a while back I attempted my first bit of sewing, with a lot of help from the lovely Susan (thanks again) and I have been meaning to show you but was a little hesitant as its a bit rough, well really rough but I kind of like how it adds a bit more quirky-ness to it. Well thats my story any way and I'm sticking to it.
Actually I am really proud of myself, it actually turned out better than I thought. Its going to be a cover for a holiday journal which I can't wait to start.

I just only wish I had more time to try another one...
Oh well such is life, hope you are all well.
Have a great day love me :-)

Meet my Dad

Happy, Happy Fathers to all those wonderful dads out there.
And I would like you to meet my Dad. He truly is the most amazing man I have had enter my life. He has guided and stood by me all my life and I was so thrilled to be able to spend today with him. We took my Mum and Dad to Walyunga National Park for a picnic and then we took them for a little 4wd drive. Dad loves being out in the bush so he was in his element today. I don't get many photo's taken of myself and certainly not many taken with my Dad so I was so pleased when my lovely hubby took these for me. I am definately going to frame one of these.
We finished off out day in Guildford where we met my Brother, Sister-in-Law and my niece for afternoon tea. We went to "The Lounge Room" on James Street. This was quite an experience for me because I used to work in the very same building years ago when it used to be Devinish & Sons real estate. They have turned it into quite a quirky little cafe with funky music and great decorations. I particular love the room filled with old chase lounges and emply frames on the wall, my favourite being the frame covered in buttons (I might just have to try that). Food is delicious and coffee great, not the cheapest place but still very nice.

The coolest thing though, is the shot glass of lollies that you can get for the kids at $1.50 a shot. So cool don't you think. I couldn't help myself I had to get them one each. Hey its Fathers Day.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all had a fabulous day, no matter what you got up to.
Enjoy the new week. :-)

Peace out!

Does anyone have a child out there who speaks in a language that you don't really understand? Do you find it frustrating and just down right annoying? Well thats me at the moment, my lovely (with attitude, serious attitude which everyone tells me will just get worse over the next few years... Oh what joy to look forward to) daughter uses words that I am not really sure are words, well not according to the dictionary, and her latest word "peace out" (wasn't that from the 60's) is used for everything. It doesn't really matter what the conversation is about, the words peace out still come into it somewhere. So you can imagine my delight (well not really delight more like OMG) when I noticed that my slice cartridge "Just Chillin" had the word peach and the peace sign on it, right then I new I needed to do a page about this "wonderful" time in my daughters life.
I am sure it was a sign from somewhere telling me that this story needed to be recorded. And who am I to ignore the signs.

Oh well I better get used to this, I have several years ahead of me...
Have a great night... and peace out (i am sure it means something good... doesn't it?...
Alex what does peace out mean again)...
:-)

Ok now I must get back to my class pieces that are due... OMG this Friday.
