Loving my new camera

Although August is insanely busy for me at the moment I can't help but take photo's. We have been so busy I have taken over 1000 photo's this month (and not all with my new camera) but I just couldn't help but share these that I took today at the Zoo. My son had a day at the zoo with the Joeys (scouts) and I couldn't help but take photo's.
How cool is my Lion, through glass and all. Love it
It was so much fun to watch the animals through the zoom lense, even if I wasn't taking a photo, it just made it possible to view them up close.

These Meerkats were my favourite. I took heaps of them cause they were just so CUTE!

But these little guys were so funny. They let me get real close and then kept looking at me trying to find out what I was doing. This photo was taken even though they were right behind the fence, some how I managed to focus on them and blur the fence almost out of sight completely.

And this shot of my other favourite animal... Josh. He turned to tell me to look at something and click, what a cool photo of him.
As I said loving my new camera.
Hope you all had a great weekend
love me :-)

Laundry...

I collect quotes, sayings, famous lines and all that stuff. I have them written on scraps of paper, in notesbook, on the back of receipts, everywhere. But when I want something in particular, I can never find it. I was always going to make a journal to keep them in... but never got around to it, it was too hard, could never decide what size/colour etc. But today I wanted to play, to create for create sake and this is what I did. I created a page, holding one of my new favourite quotes on it. So this is the first page of my quote journal, every page will be different, depending on what I have on hand and how I am feeling. I am really excited about this little never ending project, I just have to keep it going. LOL
I love that this project has no end date, it will never be finished so no pressure, just something fun to do when the mood takes me.
Now... what to call the journal?
Stay safe and happy
Love me :-)

Ready to go...

Finally some time to be creative. I have a bunch of stuff that I should be doing but found this way more fun. I just picked up a bunch of photo's and I just had to scrap these. My daughter doesn't like shopping (at all, unless its at Bunnings with her Dad???) but she agreed to go shopping for an outfit to wear to her school disco. At first our little shopping adventure wasn't going so well, but after things settled down, (and I gave in to her style demands) we really started to have fun (and spend my money, she has no problem doing that). I still am amazed at all the feelings you get when you pick up a new batch of photo's, all the stories you want to tell and all the memories of that moment come flooding back.
These photo's in particular brought back alot of memories, good memories and that made them fun to scrap. I have had these papers for ages, just waiting for the right time, and that time was now.

I doodled around the photo's, added buttons and still loving those hand cut scallops. Oh and still loving my new camera.

Hope you are all well and enjoying life.
Thanks for stopping by. Love me :-)

Its been a busy time

Finally got our internet back. Yes sorry about that, we have had no internet for the last week and its nearly killed me. No blogging. Funny though, you don't realise how much you rely on something until its not there. Anyway I am glad its back.
We have been so busy here, the kids have had lots of celebrations at school with Mary MacKillop week (our school is name after her) and tonight we have the Performing Arts Festival on which both kids are in and then next week we have book week so have to organise another costume. Add to all that finishing up class pieces for the next schedule, more 4wding and a new camera.
On Sunday we ventured out again with our friends from Bullsbrook and we were supposed to end up on Toodyay... not sure what happened but we got lost. Not too badly lost and thankfully it was towards the end of the day. We still had the best time and the kids enjoyed yet another day out in the fresh air.

As my husband got his new car he thought it only fair that I should get a new camera (yay!) I have always wanted an SLR and now I have one, the only problem is that now I need a degree on how to use it LOL. So for the moment I am on auto mode but trying learn other settings. I keep telling myself baby steps. But think I would like to do a basic photography. The wildflowers are starting to peep their little heads out and they certainly make the bush look oh so pretty. This was my first attempt at using the camera for this special closeup.

But the best bit about my new camera is that I can now get up close and personal with my kids without being up close and personal. Love that.
couldn't resist this photo of Josh and his favourite chips.
Have a great day every and keep well. :-)

First 4WD trip

The kids are in the car and we have packed enough food for a week, so we are all set to head off out into the wilderness (okay bush).
But first we must start with a hearty breakfast and there is no place better than Maccas. Well thats what my kids tell me.
Colin got this great little book that has 14 4wd trips from Perth that you can do along with a brief history of the area and full trip detials. It gives you distance from Perth to Perth, what the terrain is like and what vehicles its suited for. Then is gives you the route with details to follow so you can't get lost. I was navigator for the day... and I must say I did a damn fine job.

So here we are, the start of our first adventure. We were all so excited.
We even gave the kids a short ride on the roof rack at the very beginning of the trip (to shut them up really because they kept asking and asking) it only lasted for about 2 mins and then a bee came along.
some parts of the road were a bit tight but oh so fun.

Then some of the rough stuff. Oooooo love this bit.

I love this bit even more. Getting wet. Its all me and the kids wanted to do... get the car dirty.
lets drive in...

this is so much fun...

yep got the car dirty. Job well done.

Couldn't resist taking the photo of the man himself with his new toy.

We stopped part way through for a BBQ lunch. It was so nice to sit out in the bush and have a fire. Nothing beats it really.
Couldn't resist this photo either. Spring starting to shine. The wild flowers are just starting to peak out and the colours are so pretty.
Towards the end of our drive we came across this beautiful spot with a fantastic view.
What a great day. We left home about 8.30am and got home about 9.30pm (we stopped into some friends for dinner to show off the new car. Couldn't help ourselves).
We got home very tired but what a way to spend a Saturday. Already planned another for next weekend, so here's hoping it comes off.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend :-)

new cards & craft fair

Here I am blogging when I should be doing housework. Yep finding yet another reason not to do any, I will get to it just as soon as I have finished here. Thats all Iwas going to do, post on my blog and then get stuck into it. But then I thought that I would quickly check out my favourite blogs and well now its nearly time to get the kids from school. Oh well it will have to be tomorrow. No wait we are going on our first 4WD adventure (thats if it doesn't rain too much) so I guess it will be Sunday.Anyway, enough of me going on. I just though I would share some new cards that I did a few days ago. Its just craft cardstock and a background stamp inked with sepia ink. Stamped a few frames added a couple of nested flowers and I was done.
I even added a bit of stitching to the stamped frame. I kinda liked how they turned out.

Thought I would also share a photo of Sherry who came over for the craft fair. Sherry is on the DT for Twiddleybitz and came over to teach some classes. I worked in the booth for a bit, well chatted mainly but isn't that what its all about. I went to the craft fair with my Mum and it was just so cool to hang out with her for awhile. But after the craft fair I am all imspired to knit, sew, crochet etc. etc. Where will I find the time, but so loved looking at the amazing talent we have here in Perth and Australia. You have inspired me heaps.

I also wanted to share this lovely jewellery that I picked up at the fair. They are by a lady called Mary Anne Cunningham and she hands makes each the glass beads. They are beautiful and all slightly different which just adds to their charm. The best bit is that the silver rod that they are on comes apart so that you can change the beads when ever the mood takes you. I only bought two lots of beads but so need to get some more. I believe she if often at the Markets on a sunday morning in Perth City near the art gallery, so I will be off in a few weeks to get some more. And for those of you who have Pandora's they fit on the rod as well.
Hope you all have a great weekend :-)

Patchwork bag

Patchwork bag, originally uploaded by Knitwit..

Oh so pretty

outback adventure

Well outback of Malaga actually. Yes after years of wanting one my husband has finally got his 4WD. We picked it up late yesterday afternnon and as you can tell by the photo the kids were just a little excited.
We were on our way home, nearly at home when Colin took a turn. A little baffled I asked where are we going and colin said "to try out the 4WD".

So out the back of Malaga we took the beast for a bash. Okay so its not really 4WD but at 6.30pm, only half an hour after getting the car, this was the best we could do... and the kids loved it. Colin couldn't get the smile off his face. Even on the way to our house he kept driving up the odd kerb just to get the 4WD experience.
So life as we know it will change now and I can't wait. We are off to some dirt tracks on Saturday. Yahoooooooooooooooo.

Have a great day :-)

Mum I really need an IPOD

Everyday its the same thing. Mum, when can I get an Ipod, I really need one you know and everyone else has one except me. What do you do? We have more conversations at the moment about getting an Ipod than about anything else. My answer is always the same, if you are good maybe Santa will bring you one. She screws up her face and says but Mum I know who Santa is, you are not being fair. Roll on christmas is all I can say and by the way the year is speeding by it won't be long.
When I got my new Just Chillin slice cartridge and saw the ipod shape I just knew that I had to do a page about this very serious matter, well according to Alex anyway. And I used some of the new American Crafts Teen range.

Hope you all had a good weekend. I will try and post tomorrow some of the photo's from the craft fair.
Enjoy your week. :-)
